Maddock Munitions
Maddock Munitions is a medium-sized arms manufacturer based in lower Ontario Canada roughly 150 miles (240 km) west of Ottawa. They produce laser based, ion based, plasma based and incendiary projectile weapons. Maddock is a fairly recent contender in the arms industry, having established itself in the winter of 91 P.A. The founders are comprised of AWOL Free Quebec military scientists and rogue scholars. The primary founder (in this case the one with the most money to invest) was Aaron Maddock, a retired mercenary who had money stashed away to pursue the one thing he had long yearned to do --make weapons. Through the contacts he had made while the captain of Hammond’s Irregulars, a Canadian mercenary outfit of some renown, he acquired a suitable base to set up operations. In addition, he obtained the equipment necessary to begin manufacturing weapons. Knowing the value of experienced and intelligent designers and scientists, Maddock recruited early. He chose a strong collective core of adept engineers (the lead designer is a former Free Quebec engineer named David Bourne), who are now part of his board of directors. From humble beginnings, Maddock Munitions has come full circle, exploding onto the scene attaining weapon contracts with many local independent kingdoms and even a few long distance clients, much to their competitors’ dismay.

NOTE: Availability of all weapons is exclusive to southern Canada and the Great Lakes Region (unless otherwise noted). Weapons that find themselves elsewhere in continental North America (and through the Black Market) are usually marked up 140% to as much as 200% (double book value).

Author’s Note: The idea behind Maddock Munitions is based off of the illustration by Ramon Perez on page 11 of the Canada World Book. The building in that illustration can be considered the headquarters and manufacturing plant. Maddock weapons as well as those of the Manistique Imperium / Northern Gun are sold retail there.

MS6 Heavy Ion Pistol
The MS6 heavy ion pistol is the flag-ship product of a new line of powerful but compact single-handed weapons recently put on sale throughout the north-eastern section of North America. The MS of the MS6 designation means “Man-Stopper” and that is what it is literally built to do: to subdue an opponent by the shear force of an energy blast --if they are not killed by the energy blast first. The use of ion energy is very effective towards this goal. Side effects of the use of ion however include the diminished range, increased energy usage, as well as the increased weight of the weapon. There is, however, no pistol on the market presently that can match the stopping power of the MS6.
Weight: 8 lbs (3.6 kg).
Mega-Damage: 4D6 + 6 M.D.; if the target’s weight is less than 200 lbs and is stationary, the target is knocked back 1D4 +2 feet (the target must also roll to maintain balance), if the target is in motion it is stopped dead in it’s tracks (depending on velocity and angle, GMs use your own discretion).
Rate of Fire: Equal to the number of attacks of the user; each blast counts as one melee attack.
Effective Range: 300 feet (91 m).
Payload: 6 shots, 12 with long e-clip, 18 shots with MM-P3.
Cost: 30,000 credits for pistol; 50,000 credits for pistol & power pack; poor availability.

DB1 Laser Pistol
The DB1 made by Maddock Munitions, of Ontario Canada, is its entry level laser pistol into the markets of North America. Built with utility in mind the DB1 is an all purpose laser weapon. Range, damage, and power consumption were all considered in the design and manufacture of this weapon. The DB1 is also balanced for those who can dual wield weapons.
Weight: 4 lbs (1.8 kg).
Mega-Damage: 2D4 M.D.
Rate of Fire: Standard.
Effective Range: 800 feet (243 m).
Payload: 20 blasts, 40 blasts with long e-clips, 60 blasts with MM-P3.
Cost: 9,000 credits.

DB55 "Five-Five" Laser Pistol
The "Five-Five" produced by Maddock Munitions is the company’s premier selling pistol. Over 25,000 have been ordered and sold within the first twelve months of its introduction to weaponry shelves in the North American & Southern Canadian market. The 55’s popularity is in its long range, high damage capabilities, and low power consumption. Like all other Maddock energy weapons, the 55 possesses an extra capacitor bank just below the barrel. This gives it even better energy usage and far superior range compared to other DB pistols. As an added bonus the DB55 comes with built in laser targeting and a short range flash light. It is also balanced for dual wielding.
Weight: 5 lbs (2.3 kg).
Mega-Damage: 2D4 + 4 M.D.
Rate of Fire: Standard.
Effective Range: 1400 feet (366 m).
Payload: 20 shots, 40 shots with long e-clip, 60 shots with MM-P3.
Cost: 14,000 credits.

DB9 Laser Pistol
The DB9 is the latest in the DB line and is counted among the most powerful laser-based pistols in the Northeast Americas. The DB9 is a derivative of the DB55 pistol where, instead of an extra capacitor bank, another laser chamber is installed. The second laser has effectively doubled the damage, while maintaining respectable range. Since one additional bank of capacitors remain, energy consumption is surprisingly efficient with the DB9. It is also made to be dual wielded.
Weight: 5 lbs (2.3 kg).
Mega-Damage: 4D4 + 4 M.D.
Rate of Fire: Standard.
Effective Range: 900 feet (275 m).
Payload: 12 shots, 24 shots with long e-clip, 36 shots with MM-P3.
Cost: 18,000 credits.

M30 Light Infantry Assault Rifle
The M30 is a customary energy rifle in every sense of the word. It is a general purpose and mass produced weapon. It has above average range, good damage potential and economical energy usage. Like other weapons produced by Maddock Munitions, the M30 has extra high efficiency capacitor banks, which boosts the power reservoir, and in turn, furthers effective range and increases payload.
Weight: 9 lbs (4.1 kg).
Mega-Damage: Laser is 3D6 M.D.
Rate of Fire: Standard.
Effective Range: Laser is 3000 feet (915 m).
Payload: 20 blasts from standard e-clip, 40 blasts with long e-clip, 60 blasts with MM-P3.
Cost: 34,000 credits.

M36 Heavy Infantry Assault Rifle
The M36 is Maddock Munitions’ premier selling energy rifle since the day it was introduced to the public. Highly reliable, incredibly accurate, and purposefully designed, the M36 quickly gained many faithful men-at-arms followers. Features include a powerful high-charge / low-loss quad-focused laser component, an integrated grenade launcher, and an electronic 8x targeting scope. Durability is the M36’s middle name, and its ever growing popularity is a testament to the weapon’s peerless field record.
Weight: 10 lbs (4.5 kg).
Mega-Damage: Laser is 4D6 M.D. Grenade launcher takes any launch-friendly grenades.
Rate of Fire: Standard. Grenade launcher shots count as one melee attack.
Effective Range: Laser is 3000 feet (915 m); Grenade Launcher is 900 feet (275 m).
Payload: 20 blasts from standard e-clip, 40 blasts with long e-clip, 60 blasts with MM-P3. The grenade launcher holds 6 grenades at a time.
Scope Targeting Bonus: +2 to aimed shots.
Cost: 45,000 credits.

M40 Sniper Assault Rifle
The M40 is one of the newest additions to the Maddock arsenal of laser weapons. Designed to be compact and easy to use, the M40 is one of the best weapons produced by the Ontario based company. The M40 is actually an off-shoot of the LRS series, a weapon built to be used as a normal firing weapon with the ability to fire long range sniper shots. A new more efficient energy delivery system has increased damage as well as capacity, though range has been sacrificed and reduced. Overall the M40 is quite a capable weapon and becoming increasingly popular amongst large wilderness kingdoms, large mercenary companies, and the security personnel of the very wealthy (its popularity is limited only by its high retail cost).
Weight: 9 lbs (4.1 kg).
Mega-Damage: 4D6 M.D.; 2D4 x 10 M.D. in sniper mode.
Rate of Fire: Standard. Sniper mode blasts count as one melee attack.
Effective Range: 3000 feet (914 m), 4000 feet (1219 m) for sniper mode blasts.
Payload: 20 blasts, 40 blasts with long e-clip, 60 blasts with MM-P3; each sniper blast counts as five normal blasts.
Laser Targeting Bonus: +1 to aimed shots.
Switching Fire Modes: Because the M40 is built off of the LRS design, it takes one attack per melee to change fire modes.
Cost: 90,000 credits; limited availability, every production run has been sold out.

LRS3 Long Range Sniper Assault Rifle
The LRS3 is Maddock Munitions first sniper rifle. Until very recently, Maddock Munitions was mainly known as a pistol and light rifle manufacturer. The LRS3 rifle differs from other sniper rifles in that it can fire in burst mode, like a regular rifle, or in sniper mode. Thus making the LRS3 is an effective all purpose weapon. Standard features of the LRS3 include additional capacitor banks for increasing power efficiency and a high definition laser infrared macro-scope targeting system.
Weight: 10 lbs (4.5 kg).
Mega-Damage: 4D6 M.D.; 2D4 x 10 M.D. in sniper mode.
Rate of Fire: Standard. Sniper mode blasts count as one melee attack.
Effective Range: 3000 feet (914 m), 5000 feet (1524 m) for sniper mode blasts.
Payload: 10 blasts with standard e-clip, 5 blasts in sniper mode; can not use any other energy source.
Scope Targeting Bonus: +3 on an aimed shot.
Switching Fire Modes: When changing firing modes, the LRS series of weapons requires a pause of one attack per melee before becoming operable. This is caused by a delay in the capacitor banks as they charge/discharge.
Cost: 95,000 credits.

LRS6-Prototype Long Range Sniper Assault Rifle
The Maddock Munitions LRS6-Prototype (or LRS6-P) is an early stage heavy laser support rifle. A modified version of the LRS3 sniper rifle, the LRS6-P is a risky experimental weapon, especially for a medium sized manufacturer like Maddock. A second laser chamber has effectively doubled the damage of the weapon, while extra capacitor banks keep energy consumption at a minimum. Power output by the LRS6-P produces enough laser energy to rival the damage of most rail guns while still remaining a laser based weapon. Test runs of the LRS6-P have been mostly positive, except in a few instances of overload where the rifle exploded, seriously injuring the participants. The LRS6-P also includes a high definition laser infrared macro-scope targeting system.
Weight: 18 lbs (8.1 kg).
Mega-Damage: 4D6 M.D.; 4D4 x 10 M.D. in sniper mode.
Rate of Fire: Standard. Sniper mode blasts count as one melee attack.
Effective Range: 3000 feet (914 m), 6000 feet (1829 m) for sniper mode blasts.
Payload: 10 blasts, 5 in sniper mode; requires 2 e-clips to operate.
Scope Targeting Bonus: +3 on aimed shot.
Switching Fire Modes: When changing firing modes, the LRS series of weapons requires a pause of one attack per melee before becoming operable. This is caused by a delay in the capacitor banks as they charge/discharge.
Overloads: Whenever a sniper shot is made roll 1D20, if the roll produces a 1, the capacitors and e-clips explode causing 4D6 M.D. to the shooter, the shooter also loses one attack per melee, a roll of 2 or 3 the weapon is overloaded, rendered useless (until repaired), and the two blasted e-clips are drained of all power and short circuited leaving them nothing more than carbonized (by electrical fire) scrap metal.
Repairs: Skilled Operators have a base 20% chance of repairing an overloaded LRS6-P (can not repair exploded LRS6-Ps or e-clips) in a low-tech shop or field lab (+25% hi-tech labs).
Black Market Cost: 200,000 credits; extremely rare, in the form of manufacturing samples owned by select individuals, only 6 LR6S-Ps have been known to exist outside of Maddock Munitions’ labs. A limited production run will begin about a year before the Siege of Tolkeen conflict.

G30 Assault Laser Pistol
The limited production G30 is a specialized weapon made by Maddock Munitions. Designed with subtlety in mind, the G30 is sold primarily to mercenary outfits whose contracts demand that weapons not be brandished in plain sight. Often overlooked as a plain anodized black brief case (10 M.D.C.), the G30 hides much of its fearsome power behind the effective disguise. A small trigger positioned for the thumb on the handle of the case releases the enclosure which is ejected off via a motorized spring mechanism revealing the weapon inside. Performance is of utmost importance, thus the G30 can take only long e-clips or the specially designed MM-P3. The G30 also features an electronic shot counter that is a popular feature often requested, though rarely incorporated, on Maddock Munitions’ weapons. The G30 is very popular among organized black market thugs and enforcers.
Weight: 6 lbs (2.7 kg) with case, 4 lbs (1.8 kg) without case.
Mega-Damage: 3D6 M.D.
Rate of Fire: Standard.
Effective Range: 2000 feet (610 m).
Payload: 30 blasts with long e-clip; 60 blasts with MM-P3.
Cost: 60,000 credits; rare availability, only 2000 in the first year of production; currently with a reduced production schedule which means only 1200 are made each year.

M8 Plasma Ejector
The M8 is Maddock Munitions’ first and only plasma based rifle. Engineered by David Bourne, the creator of the DB pistol series, the M8 is based off of a CS military design he acquired while still working as a weapons engineer at Free Quebec. A high power induction and containment system he helped design is incorporated into the M8, giving it a relatively high energy output while keeping thermal transfers at a minimum. This basically translates into increased power while also increasing range, due to there being less heat loss while energy is charged in the plasma coils. A laser targeting system is also built into the undercarriage below the intimidating two inch bore.
Weight: 12 lbs (5.4 kg).
Mega-Damage: 1D6 x 10 M.D.
Rate of Fire: Equal to the number of attacks of the user; each blast counts as one melee attack.
Effective Range: 2400 feet (732 m).
Payload: 10 blasts from standard e-clip; 20 blasts from long e-clip; 30 blasts from MM-P3.
Laser Targeting System: +1 on aimed shot.
Cost: 36,000 credits.

MM-P3 Portable Power Pack
The P3, short for Portable Power Pack, is built by Maddock Munitions for use with their arsenal of energy weapons. The power pack is actually little more than three e-clips wired in parallel. The unit is composed of two pieces, the charge canister and an e-clip interface, power is transferred between the two through an armored (5 M.D.) 3 foot cord. One distinct advantage of the P3 over other power packs is its ability to be recharged by various power outlets (i.e. wall outlets, small electric generators, e-clip charging stations, solar arrays, basically any electric power source) thus eliminating the need to visit arms dealers for e-clip recharges. It should be noted that the P3 can only be used on compatible energy weapons and will short circuit when used otherwise. The unit is lightweight and compact, roughly six inches long, four inches wide and two inches deep.
Weight: 6 lbs (2.7 kg).
Note: Power sources must be able to provide constant and uniform energy output. Recharge time varies depending on the strength of the source; GMs use your own discretion.
Cost: 20,000 credits fully charged; 18,000 credits uncharged.

AC10 Machine Gun
The AC series by Maddock Munitions are projectile weapons which utilize a proprietary technology known as DetCap (detonating capsule) rounds. A DetCap round basically consists of a small M.D. explosive at the end of each two inch bullet. The extra length of the barrel on the AC10 increases effective range as well as accuracy over those distances. The weapon is also modular, as the long barrel can be removed and replaced with a much shorter one. Since the long barrel has much more surface area, the barrel degrades a lot faster than other projectile weapon barrels, and as such should be replaced every 5,000 shots or fired bullets will become more unpredictable, accuracy reduced, and jams more frequent. It takes one melee round to change barrels.
Weight: 20 lbs (9 kg) with long barrel; 12 lbs (5.4 kg) with short barrel.
Mega-Damage: 1D4 M.D. per shot with DetCap explosive tipped rounds.
Rate of Fire: Standard.
Effective Range: 1500 feet (457 m) with long barrel; 600 feet (183 m) with short barrel.
Payload: 40 shots in short clips, 60 shots in long clips, and 300 shots in box feed.
Additional Bonus: +1 strike with long barrel, -3 strike with worn long barrel.
Jams: After every burst or wild attack, roll a 1D10, if the roll produces a 1, the weapon jams until cleared which takes 3 attacks per melee.
Cost: 30,000 credits with both barrel attachments; 2,000 credits for a long barrel replacement. 400 credits for short clip, 600 credits for long clip, and 2,500 credits for box feed; limited availability.

SC6 Assault Shotgun
The SC6 pump-action and semi-automatic shotgun produced by Maddock Munitions is their first weapon to use their proprietary DetCap technology in shotgun shell form. The SC6 shell is half an inch around and two inches long. The shell casing is ejected from a port on the left side of the gun once fired and holds 30 DetCap pellets that explode on contact causing Mega-Damage. The SC6 is designed to disperse the DetCap pellets at an arc angle once fired from the barrel to impact as many pellets on a single target as possible. A unique feature of the SC6 is its ability to fire off half of its ammo load (a burst of three shells) in one sustained trigger pull. The SC6 can be reloaded by hand from a top hatch that flips open or a thirty-six shell wide-clip auto-loader can be attached to the same reloading port making the SC6 a devastatingly powerful weapon. Switching between single and three shot bursts is instant and does not cost the shooter any attacks per melee. A quick three shell burst is treated the same way as a single shot, in that only one target is struck, due to the quick succession of shells and a very focused pellet spread (about a foot wide at 60 feet).
Weight: 8 lbs (3.6 kg).
Mega-Damage: 5D6 M.D. (per shell) to targets up to 60 feet (18 m), 3D6 M.D. (per shell) to targets between 60 and 120 feet (37 m), 1D6 M.D. (per shell) to targets beyond 120 feet .
Rate of Fire: Equal to the number of attacks of the user; each blast counts as one attack per melee. Shooters with a P.S. less than 20 suffer –3 to strike due to recoil.
Effective Range: 260 feet (79 m).
Payload: 6 shells, up to 3 shells can be hand loaded in one attack per melee; 36 shells from wide-clip auto-loader which locks and loads like an e-clip, refilling an empty auto-loader clip takes one melee round.
Range Bonus: Targets within 60 feet are –4 to dodge, targets over 120 feet have +4 dodge.
Cost: 33,000 credits, limited availability; an empty wide-clip loader costs 800 credits, a single SC6 shell costs 20 credits, a box of 100 shells go for 1800 credits.
