Arrow Construction Table
By
FfW
To
use the table below, first choose an arrowhead type and design under
the heading "Arrowhead Base Damage". Then pick the "Head
Material", then pick "Shaft Material" and "Shaft
Design", then finish by picking the "Fletch Length" and
the "# of Fletches" for your arrow. Make sure that the arrows
have their own statistics, such as Damage, Strike Bonus, Range Bonus,
Durability and Cost (per arrow). The price list for these individual
features, and for sample complete arrows, are at the end of this document.

Arrowhead
Specific and Additional Rules:
All
prices reflect a single finished product (i.e. one fletch, one shaft,
one arrowhead), not the raw material. GMs should use their own discretion
to adjust raw material prices accordingly.
-
Armor Piercing (metal): +4 Damage vs. chain mail only, negates Thrust
Resistance Factor vs. all non chain mail.
-
Armor Piercing (non metal): +3 Damage vs. chain mail only.
-
Barbed: Apply original damage when removing barbed arrowheads from
a body.
-
Bifurcated: Apply damage to Cut or Thrust resistance factor, whichever
is lower. +2 Strike, +2 Damage vs. ropes, strings and cords of all
kinds.
-
Blunt: Auto Knock Out on aimed/called shot to the head if damage
exceeds base head S.D.C.
- Bodkin:
+3 Damage vs. all non-Plate armor, +5 Damage vs. Plate armor.
-
Whistling arrowheads are impact damage only.
- Metal
Broad Tipped arrowheads with three or four blades reduce range by
75 feet.
- Metal
Bodkin and Cage Fire reduce range by 40 feet.
- Combining
Short Arrows and Longbows and vice versa incurs a -2 Strike penalty.
- Flu-flu
fletch designs incur a -2D6 Damage penalty.
-
Speed Nocks add +1 to Initiative.
Apply bonuses / penalties from supernatural and magical bones, horns,
and feathers to the finished arrow after using the construction table
above.
Materials for arrowheads, shafts, and fletching can be intermixed (i.e.
Dragon horn arrowhead on a Demon bone shaft with Pegasus feather fletches).
The list below is in no way a complete inventory of all possible creature
remains with magical properties. GMs are encouraged to create their
own rules and properties for those creatures not listed below.

Note:
-
Triple the price for yellow wood arrowheads and quadruple the price
for ironwood arrowheads.
-
Stone is predominately used by archers of the Yin-Sloth Jungles
and many of the monster races, specifically orcs, goblins, ogres,
and troglodytes.
-
The horn and bone prices above are from animals of a non-supernatural
nature common to Palladia. These prices will change when working
with horn and/or bone from exotic or supernatural creatures.
Example
1: An arrow with a target/field point arrowhead made of wood (cut from
the shaft), a standard 24 inch oak shaft, and three short fletches (an
arrow design that is quick and easy to construct and very common) would
cost 8 bronze/brass (1D6 Thrust Damage). A dozen of which will cost
roughly 10 gold. A dozen of these arrows made for a longbow would cost
roughly 20 gold.
