| Origins 2004
June 25th & 26th, five of the AFR Crew (AVA, EvDawg, FfW, IXS, VA) make the trip down to see Siembieda and the Palladium Books staff at the Origins convention, again held in Columbus, Ohio. Isaac and FfW go by car and the rest of the gang went by bus. This time the weather was much nicer, cooler yet sunny with a lot less humidity.
Highlights:
- Meeting Kevin Siembieda again, and chatting about Rifts (of course), the Rifts movie (still in development at Jerry Bruckheimer Films but they've a script writer on board already, one David Franzoni who has written King Authur, Gladiator, & Amistad among others). We also spoke with Wayne Smith (editor of The Rifter) and Carmen Bellaire (writer of the upcoming Splicers RPG).
- Isaac and FfW were able to play in a session of Beyond the Supernatural GM'ed by Siembieda himself. As fans of Palladium Books' games we couldn't have been happier. Isaac was voted Best Role Player by all involved, and was even noted by Siembieda as being one of the best players he has GM'ed for for some time.
- We also met and spoke with Ramon Perez as well as artists Apollo Okamura, Brandon C. Clark and members of Drunken Style Studio. Alex had his portfolio with him and he and Ramon talked art, and the possibility of Alex being published in a Rifter. We were also fortunate that Ramon had some time to draw character sketches, that's right, the great Ramon Perez put his magic pen to work on portraits of our very own beloved characters:
- Tyr Ananasi, an accomplished Headhunter Assassin and Sharpshooter (and one-half of the head of the Ottawa Regulators mercenary group).
- Joaquin L. Perez, legendary Mercenary and Headhunter Techno-Warrior, he co-commands the Ottawa Regulators with Tyr Ananasi.
- Eiraz Oblum, Spatial Mage extraordinaire.
- Serrik Ryu-Jinn, Warrior from the Far East and Chi-master.
- And finally, Aranor Aelsavideth, High Elf Battle-Magus and Captain of Dweomer.
- Apollo Okamura was also kind enough to do a couple commissioned pencil sketches of:

Origins 2003
Mid-summer 2003 four of the AFR Crew (AVA, EvDawg, FfW, IXS) hopped in Isaac's SUV and took a road trip with the sole purpose of meeting the Palladium Books staff at the Origins International Game Expo held in sunny (and sultry) Columbus, Ohio. The drive was long and arduous and the milage some 700 miles one way; driving duties were split into shifts among three drivers.
Highlights:
- Meeting Kevin Siembieda, Maryann Siembieda, Steve "Lord Coake" Sheiring, Ramon Perez, Roger & Randi Cartier and Wayne Smith.
- We all got autographs from Siembieda, Shiering, Smith and Perez (who drew a small illustration with his autographs).
- We were referred to as the "four crazy fucks" from Rhode Island by Siembieda himself.
- Being given a free Rifts t-shirt each by Siembieda.
- Being given some insider information about the upcoming "Rifts Movie."
- We were also able to purchase a handful of Ramon Perez originals:
